Methamphetamine Screening

Step 1

Worried that your home is contaminated with Meth? Perhaps you want a MethCheck® just in case?

Maybe you’re buying a house or renting a property and you want to be sure it’s safe before moving in.

As the first part of a drug test we send our trained and certified testers to collect samples, usually as a Field Composite Test, which is One Test Kit used to sample several areas for a single overall result.

The Test Kit is sent to a laboratory for testing and analysis and within a couple of days the lab test results return so we can provide answers to your questions. In most cases, properties are Meth-free.

Step 2

If the test indicates there is Meth Residue then we can conduct either a Site Evaluation or a Full Investigation, subject to the severity.

We sample a single measured area (100cm²) in each room to be tested for Meth and also note the material sampled on for further reference.

The samples are delivered to a laboratory, which determines the surface contamination and we estimate the seriousness of it, subject to variables.

This enables us to formulate a Remedial Action Plan (RAP) from which you can obtain Quotes for the cost of Decontamination, as appropriate.

Step 3

If EnviroCheck has provided the sampling and results we usually do not provide Decontamination. However, you may be referred for Decontamination only. In which case, there are 4 Decontamination levels that we primarily undertake for Meth residue.

1. Minimal tainting; we use chemical solutions, which draw out and neutralise Meth. 2. Higher concentrations; we also remove soft furnishings and electrical appliances and fittings. 3. Penetrating contamination; we also remove wall linings, ceilings and other fixtures and fittings. 4. Complete contamination; we also deconstruct areas not cost effective to chemically treat for Meth.

Step 4

Once Decontamination is complete, we re-test. If clear, that's it. If not, further treatment is required.

In some cases there is a deeper contamination, which may be temporarily hidden by cleaning or redecorating, either accidentally or deliberately.

In which case, we must revise the remediation plan (RAP). Costs must be re-estimated, further Meth Decontamination conducted and then more testing.

Once testing confirms Meth is within the safe levels, we report a clear test and provide a full report. Normally, you would get independent testing where we provide the Decontamination service.
